Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, organised an Academic Field Visit to Mudaliarpet Police Station, Puducherry, on 30 September 2026 for the first-year Bachelor’s students of Criminology and Police Science as part of their experiential learning. A total of 52 students participated, along with two faculty members, Ms. Shilpa Aravindan KB, Teaching-cum-Research Officer (Forensic Science), and Ms. Nidhya P, Sports Training Officer.
The objective of the academic field visit to Mudaliyarpet Police Station was to provide first-year Bachelor’s students of Criminology and Police Administration with practical exposure to the functioning of a police station and the role of police in the criminal justice system. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of police station procedures, complaint handling, crime investigation, maintenance of records, and the practical application of criminology and police administration concepts.
The visit was aimed at providing students with practical exposure to the functioning of a police station and the role of the police in the criminal justice system. It enabled students to gain a better understanding of police station procedures, complaint handling, crime investigation, maintenance of records, and the practical application of concepts related to criminology and police administration. During the visit, students were given practical exposure to the functioning of the police station and the various responsibilities carried out by police personnel. The interaction provided insights into the procedures followed in receiving complaints, handling criminal cases, maintaining police records, and supporting crime investigation and law-enforcement activities.
The field visit also enabled students to connect their classroom learning in criminology and police science, administration with actual policing practices. They gained a deeper understanding of the role of police stations in crime prevention, investigation, public safety and the criminal justice process. The interaction with police personnel further enhanced their awareness of professional roles and responsibilities in policing. The visit was convened by Mr. Arsh G., Campus Director and coordinated by Ms. Shilpa Aravindan KB, Teaching-cum-Research Officer (Forensic Science).
