                    The RRU Puducherry Campus recently came alive with vibrant festivities as students, faculty, and staff gathered to celebrate the joyous occasion of Pongal. One of the most significant harvest festivals in South India, Pongal is a time of thanksgiving to nature for a bountiful harvest and a celebration of cultural traditThis year’s Pongal celebration at the RRU Puducherry Campus was a memorable affair, marked by an array of traditional activities that brought the festival's spirit to life. Pongal Preparation: A Traditional Culinary Delight

The highlight of the celebrations was the preparation of the traditional "Pongal" dish, a sweet and savory rice dish made with newly harvested rice, lentils, and spices. Students and staff actively participated in cooking the Pongal in large pots, offering a hands-on experience of the authentic preparation process. The aroma of the freshly made Pongal filled the air, signaling the success of the harvest season. The act of cooking Pongal is symbolic of prosperity and abundance. The traditional "Pongal pot" was decorated with turmeric leaves and placed on an open flame, and as the dish was prepared, participants chanted prayers for a fruitful year ahead.
