Dr. S. Abarna, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, was invited as a Resource Person for Two Days National Level Workshop on Cybersecurity Tools and their Practical Implications which held on 18th and 19th September 2025 at Puducherry Technological University, jointly organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering and NOKIA, Chennai.
On Day 2, 19th September, 2025, during the forenoon session 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM, Dr. Abarna delivered an Expert Lecture on the topic:
The purpose of the session was to provide participants with real-time exposure to widely used cybersecurity and forensic tools, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. Through live demonstrations and guided practice, Dr. Abarna introduced participants to techniques for identifying vulnerabilities, analyzing threats, and applying effective defensive mechanisms.
A major highlight of the session was its interactive, hands-on approach, where students engaged directly with tools and simulated investigative scenarios. This enabled them to develop practical skills in digital forensics and better understand the process of transforming cyber evidence into actionable insights.
The session witnessed the active participation of around 150 B.Tech students from 2nd year, 3rd year, and final year, who actively took part in the activities and discussions. Their involvement reflected the growing interest in cybersecurity as a career path and emphasized the importance of applied learning in the digital era.
The workshop overall was well-received by both students and faculty, with participants appreciating the practical depth, relevance, and technical clarity of the hands-on session. By blending theory with practice, the session not only strengthened participant's cybersecurity knowledge but also empowered them with skills to effectively tackle emerging cyber threats in both academic and professional domains.
