Academic Excellence of RRU Puducherry Students at International Criminology Conference

On 26 & 27 February 2026, Students from Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, participated in the First International & 3rd Annual Conference on Criminology, hosted by Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Chennai. The conference was organized in collaboration with the Indian Society of Criminology, bringing together scholars, academicians, and researchers from various institutions to deliberate on emerging issues and contemporary developments in criminology and criminal justice.

The event provided a valuable platform for academic exchange and research presentation. Students engaged with contemporary themes such as prison reforms, correctional administration, evolving crime patterns, victimology, and theoretical advancements in criminology. The conference facilitated meaningful discussions that connected academic research with practical challenges within the criminal justice system.

The following students from II Year B.A./B.Sc. Criminology and Police Science presented their research papers as:
  • Mr. Arunash Kanna G: “Understanding Child Abuse through Victims’ Narratives: A Qualitative Study in Puducherry.”
  • Mr. Moses Napoleon I: “Factors Contributing towards Criminal Behaviour among College Students: An Empirical Assessment.”
  • Ms. Subhashree P: “A Study on Prison Rehabilitation and Restorative Justice.”
  • Ms. Manishaa E: “Drug Peddling among Young Adults in the Puducherry Region.”

In addition, Ms. Prarthika and Ms. Blessy from the I Year M.A./M.Sc. Criminology actively participated and contributed to the academic deliberations. Their research papers reflected strong analytical skills, sound subject knowledge, and a keen understanding of contemporary criminological concerns. The students were guided by Mr. Diwakar, Teaching-cum-Research Officer, RRU–Puducherry, whose mentorship and academic support were instrumental in preparing them for the conference.

Their participation not only enhanced their academic exposure but also highlighted the research-oriented learning environment at the Puducherry Campus. The conference experience strengthened their confidence, broadened their academic perspectives, and reinforced the university’s commitment to fostering scholarly excellence in criminology.
