The BA Criminology and Police Administration (BACPA) students of Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, participated in a Swimming Training Programme conducted by the 1(P) Naval Unit NCC, Puducherry, from 4 June 2026 to 10 June 2026. The programme was organised as part of the academic curriculum to enhance students' physical fitness, water safety awareness, and survival skills.
Over the course of the seven-day programme, 28 students along with faculty member Ms. Nidhya P, Sports Training Officer, underwent structured training under the guidance of PI Staff Mr. Abhay Singh 1(P), Naval Unit NCC, Puducherry. The sessions focused on the fundamentals of swimming, including water familiarisation, floating techniques, breathing control, kicking exercises, body balance, and basic swimming strokes. Equal emphasis was placed on water safety practices, discipline, and confidence-building, enabling students to build confidence as they performed various activities in the swimming pool.
Objective of the Event:
- To provide students with practical swimming skills and promote water safety awareness as an integral part of the academic curriculum.
- To enhance students' physical fitness, endurance, self-confidence, and discipline through structured and systematic swimming training.
- To familiarise students with the fundamentals of swimming and essential water survival techniques relevant to emergency response, policing, and national security professions.
The participants demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment throughout the practical sessions, steadily improving their swimming proficiency through consistent practice and expert guidance. In addition to enhancing physical endurance, coordination, and overall fitness, the training programme fostered essential personal qualities such as self-confidence, teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and mental resilience.
Furthermore, the programme provided valuable practical exposure to life-saving techniques and water survival skills, equipping students with competencies that are highly relevant to careers in criminology, policing, and national security. The experience reinforced the importance of physical preparedness and emergency response capabilities, contributing significantly to the holistic development of the students.Overall, the Swimming Training Programme was a highly beneficial and enriching learning experience. It successfully combined physical training with practical life skills, supporting the university's commitment to developing competent, disciplined, and resilient future professionals in the fields of law enforcement and national security.
