Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Regional Centre Puducherry, in collaboration with RRU Puducherry Campus and Puducherry Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (PIHMCT), organised “The Partition of India: Memory, Loss and Resilience” in observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on 14 August 2026 at the RRU Puducherry Campus Auditorium.

The programme featured a special lecture and exhibition focusing on the memories, losses, and resilience associated with the Partition of India. The event provided a platform to reflect on the historical experiences connected with Partition and to remember the human stories associated with this significant chapter of Indian history.

The programme featured the participation of Shri Sumit Dey, Regional Director, IGNCA RCP, who delivered the Welcome Address. Mr. Nethaji Subash, Assistant Director, RRU Puducherry Campus, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Shri Matri Prasad, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry, served as the Speaker. Ms. Rita Mitra, Principal, PIHMCT, was the Guest of Honour.

The special lecture and exhibition offered an opportunity for participants to engage with the theme of “Memory, Loss and Resilience” and reflect on the historical significance of Partition and its enduring memories. The programme served as a meaningful observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, bringing together RRU Puducherry and IGNCA Regional Centre Puducherry to commemorate the day through historical reflection, remembrance and cultural engagement.
