Major General Mehra delivered a captivating talk on the essential components of leadership within security forces. He made a concerted effort to address the problems and difficulties faced by the Puducherry police in their administrative capacities. In addition to sharing his extensive knowledge, he provided fresh ideas for resolving these issues. Major General Mehra offered tactical recommendations and strategic perspectives aimed at improving administrative effectiveness and fostering strong leadership within the police department. His seminar, characterized by a lively exchange of ideas, emphasized the integration of leadership concepts into day-to-day operations. The second technical session was led by Retired Superintendent of Police Mr. Shanmugasundram, a well-known figure within the Puducherry police force. Mr. Shanmugasundram offered an enlightening introduction to the Puducherry Police Manual, outlining its importance and applications. As a committee member deeply involved in the preparation of this handbook, he provided a knowledgeable perspective on its contents. His lecture focused on the fundamentals of the First Information Report (FIR), an essential component of police work. Using real-world examples, he illustrated the intricate procedural workings of FIRs, drawing on his extensive background in law enforcement. His thorough and clear explanations aimed to enhance the officers' understanding of the FIR process and its significance in criminal investigations. Actively participating in the workshop, Mr. Shanmugasundram answered the police officers' questions and provided comprehensive responses supported by specific references and real-world instances. Utilizing a learner-centric approach to actively engage participants, Ms. Shivalakshmi covered a wide range of topics, beginning with fundamental concepts of gender and sex. She delved into the complex distinctions between gender and sex and explored various identities and behaviors resulting from different sexual orientations. Her presentation also addressed contemporary habits and trends among younger generations. Ms. Shivalakshmi provided a thorough review of how these evolving societal norms intersect with the legal system, offering valuable information about legal rights and resources available to individuals of all gender identities and orientations.
