On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Department of Tourism Studies at Pondicherry University organized a workshop on the theme of "Tourism and Peace." Mr. Nethaji Subash, Assistant Professor of Criminology from RRU Puducherry campus, was invited as a resource person and delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the role of responsible tourism in fostering peace and security. He emphasized the need for ethical tourism practices that promote cultural understanding and conflict resolution. Other esteemed panelists included Dr. Anu Chandran, Head of the Department of Tourism Studies, Pondicherry University; Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary of Auro Bharati, Sri Aurobindo Society; Ms. Gayathri Panda, Manager & Nodal Officer from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; and Mr. Sunil Varghese and Dr. Bharathy from Pondicherry University Community College. Together, they explored how tourism can be a powerful tool for peace-building and cultural diplomacy.
