SCIM Field visit: Wipro Field Visit

                           The students of Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, had the opportunity to visit Wipro’s Chennai facility, an experience that proved to be both insightful and educational. The visit began with a warm welcome from Mr. Vivek, a Wipro security Lead, who facilitated our entry by registering us at the security kiosk and issuing visitor ID cards. Then, proceeded to the conference room, where Maj. Selvyn, the Security Head, greeted us and led an engaging introductory session. During this, we introduced ourselves, creating a comfortable environment for the session. Maj. Selvyn gave us a comprehensive presentation on Wipro’s operations, domains, and security strategies, which included a detailed explanation of their three-layered security approach. The significance of the session was further emphasized by the presence of Capt. Sanjay Sharma, Wipro’s Global Security Head. After the briefing, Mr. Vivek guided us on a campus tour of Wipro’s 12-acre facility, which houses 12 operational towers. He highlighted critical security measures such as the six gates with turnstiles for pedestrians and boom barriers for vehicles, a 2.5 km boundary wall for perimeter security, and an in-house developed access control software that impressed us with its functionality. We also visited the state-of-the-art CCTV room, equipped with multiple monitors operating 24/7 and managed by two dedicated operators. As a token of appreciation, we were honored with a memento, which made the visit even more memorable. Though time constraints and Capt. Sanjay Sharma’s schedule required us to conclude the tour early; the experience was rewarding, offering valuable insights into Wipro’s security practices.
