Expert Lecture on Python programming by DR.Balamurugan from SRMIST

The Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (PGDCSDF) successfully organized a two-day expert lecture series on Python Programming, aimed at enhancing students' technical skills and exposing them to the practical aspects of coding and cyber security.

The session was handled by Dr. Balamurugan, Assistant Professor from the Department of Computer Science, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai. The expert lecture was designed to provide an in-depth understanding of Python programming along with its relevance in the field of cyber security and network security.

Throughout the two days, Dr. Balamurugan engaged the participants with a structured and practical-oriented approach. The lecture covered fundamental programming concepts and advanced techniques in Python. A special focus was given to Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs) concepts such as classes, objects, inheritance, encapsulation, and polymorphism, which are essential for structured and efficient coding. One of the key highlights of the session was the “70 Hands-on Programming” practice session, where students enthusiastically worked on more than 70 real-time coding exercises. These tasks enabled the students to strengthen their problem-solving skills and gain practical experience writing error-free code. In addition to programming basics, the lecture also emphasized the importance of data structures in Python, such as lists, tuples, dictionaries, and sets. Participants were introduced to the implementation of stacks, queues, and linked lists, along with sorting and searching algorithms. This practical exposure helped the students to understand how data is organized and manipulated in real-time programming scenarios.

The expert lecture concluded with an interactive question and answer session, where students actively clarified their doubts and discussed emerging trends in programming and cyber security. The session was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the resource person’s insightful delivery and hands-on teaching methodology. The PGDCSDF coordinators expressed their gratitude to Dr. Balamurugan for sharing his expertise and inspiring the students to explore the vast potential of Python programming and cyber security.

Overall, the two-day expert lecture was an excellent platform for the students to better understand programming concepts and their real-world applications in cybersecurity and digital forensics. The event reflected the department’s commitment to providing quality education and skill development opportunities aligned with industry demands. The PGDCSDF looks forward to organizing more knowledge-enriching sessions to empower students with cutting-edge technological skills.
