Online session on Crisis Management and Security HRM

Students of the PG Diploma in Security and Corporate Intelligence Management (PGDSCIM) had the opportunity to attend a dynamic and insightful session on Crisis Management and Security HRM, conducted by Mr. Kiran Ganapathy Mekerira, Global Physical Security Lead at IQVIA, Bangalore.

The session offered a deep dive into the core of corporate security frameworks, emphasizing the critical role of structured planning, team building, and strategic deployment. One standout topic was the Garud Force, a specialized security unit known for managing high-risk assignments, showcasing how elite teams are trained and utilized. Mr. Kiran also outlined the step-by-step process of building an in-house security system, stressing the importance of recruitment practices that prioritize skill, attitude, and situational awareness. A highlight of the session was the focus on real-time crisis handling, with case examples from IQVIA. Students were introduced to the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and Genetec software, which integrates surveillance, access control, and incident tracking — a prime example of technology and manpower working in tandem. The session further explored the role of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in standardizing global security protocols and operational best practices, such as vehicle inspections based on load type. Importantly, Mr. Kiran emphasized the need for cultural awareness in global deployments — a key factor in effective communication and service delivery.

Overall, the session was an eye-opener into the world of modern corporate security, blending intelligence, technology, and human expertise to build resilient organizations.
