A Blood Donation Awareness Activity was organized by the NSS Unit of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Puducherry Campus, on 20 February 2026, on various dates at Hospital blood banks, as part of the university’s outreach and social responsibility initiatives.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of voluntary blood donation and its life-saving impact on society. Blood donation plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by supporting patients undergoing surgery, accident victims, and individuals with critical medical conditions. The activity encouraged students to understand the value of donating blood and contributing to humanitarian causes.
During the session, students were sensitized to the importance of maintaining good health and to the responsibility of youth to support community welfare through voluntary blood donation. The session also highlighted that a single unit of donated blood can save multiple lives, emphasizing the importance of regular blood donors in society.
As part of this initiative, Master’s 1st Year students Mr. Divagaran, Mr. Balakarthick K., and Mr. Thulasidharan, along with Mr. Abhijay from II Year B.A. Criminology and Police Science (BA/BSC/CPS), voluntarily donated blood to support a needy person. Their noble act reflects compassion, social responsibility, and the humanitarian spirit encouraged by the NSS unit. Their contribution also served as an inspiration for other students to actively participate in similar community service initiatives.
Overall, the programme successfully promoted awareness, humanitarian values, and social responsibility among students. The activity motivated participants to recognize blood donation as a noble and meaningful act that can significantly save lives and support society.
