Two-Day Expert Session on Python Programming and Cybersecurity: PGCSDF

The Department of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics organized a two-day expert session on "Python Programming and Cybersecurity" on 26–27 March 2026 at the RRU Puducherry Campus. The session was conducted for students of the PG Diploma in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, aiming to strengthen their technical knowledge and provide practical exposure to programming and cybersecurity concepts.

The resource person for the session was Dr. G. Balamurugan, Associate Professor, Department of Computing Technologies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tamil Nadu. His expertise and industry-oriented approach made the session highly engaging and insightful.

Objectives of the Event        

  • To provide practical knowledge of Python programming concepts.
  • To introduce Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) fundamentals.
  • To enhance understanding of networking concepts using Python

Day 1: Focused on hands-on training in Python programming, with special emphasis on Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). Students were introduced to key concepts such as classes, inheritance, encapsulation, data abstraction, and abstract data types. The session was interactive, and participants worked on practical programs, helping them build a strong foundation in coding.

Day 2: Covered advanced topics including networking concepts using Python, socket programming, fundamentals of cloud security, and an overview of cybersecurity certifications. The expert also guided students on career opportunities in the cybersecurity domain and suggested relevant certification pathways.

A total of 13 students actively participated in the session. The programme significantly enhanced their practical coding skills and improved their understanding of cybersecurity concepts. The interactive teaching methodology and hands-on exercises helped simplify complex topics and boosted students’ confidence.

The expert session proved to be highly beneficial in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. It not only strengthened students’ programming skills but also provided valuable insights into cybersecurity careers, making it a meaningful and impactful learning experience.
