Tree Plantation Drive on International Day For Biological Diversity

Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry, organized a Tree Plantation Drive on 22 May 2026 at Nallavadu Coastal Village to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity. The initiative was carried out by the NSS Unit, with the active participation of 20 core volunteers, to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity. The drive focused on promoting greenery, protecting coastal ecosystems, and encouraging sustainable environmental practices among the local community.

In addition to the coastal plantation activity, the volunteers further extended their efforts by planting 10 saplings at the Tuition Center and another 10 saplings at the Primary Health Care Center. These plantation activities were carried out with active cooperation, teamwork, and dedication among the volunteers. The initiative aimed to create a healthier, greener atmosphere in public spaces frequented by children, patients, and local residents.

 Objective of the event: 

  • To create awareness about the importance of biodiversity and environmental protection among students and the public
  • To encourage tree-planting activities to maintain ecological balance and a greener environment.
  • To develop social responsibility and environmental consciousness among NSS Volunteers and villagers.

The programme reflected the commitment of the NSS Unit towards social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and community development. Through this meaningful initiative, the volunteers conveyed a strong message about the need to conserve biodiversity, protect natural resources, and adopt eco-friendly practices for future generations.

 Outcome of the event:

  • Increased awareness about biodiversity conservation among participants

The programme concluded with a sense of satisfaction and responsibility among the volunteers, who pledged to continue contributing towards environmental conservation and spreading awareness about the importance of preserving biodiversity in society. Through this activity, the volunteers conveyed a strong message about the need to conserve biodiversity and encourage sustainable living practices for future generations.
