Biodiversity Conservation Programme on Mangrove Ecosystem & World Nature Conservation

A Biodiversity Conservation Programme focusing on the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem was successfully conducted at the RRU Puducherry Campus on 28 July 2026. The event was organized as part of the university's environmental awareness initiative, with the active support of the NSS Unit, and witnessed the participation of more than 320 students from various colleges. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Kalamegam, EIACP Coordinator, and was felicitated by Mr. Arsh G, Campus Director of RRU, Puducherry. The programme received an overwhelming response, and the campus was filled with enthusiasm and excitement throughout the event.

The programme was graced by Dr. A Ramalingam, Asst.Prof-EIACP, Dr. Bubesh Gupta-Adjunct Faculty-RRU, Dr. Sathish Kumar-NSS Officer, and Dr. Saravana-NSS Coordinator. Their presence inspired all the participants and highlighted the importance of protecting our natural environment. A technical session was initiated by Dr. Bubesh Gupta, who delivered an informative and inspiring talk on Biodiversity Conservation. He explained the importance of preserving biodiversity, protecting mangrove ecosystems, and encouraging sustainable environmental practices. His session motivated students to take responsibility for conserving nature for future generations. 

One of the unique attractions of the programme was the Rain Drop Clapping Activity, which encouraged active participation and created a lively atmosphere among the audience. A Pebble Painting Competition was also conducted, in which 59 students enthusiastically participated. The participants showcased their creativity by painting meaningful environmental themes on pebbles, promoting awareness about biodiversity and nature conservation. An Elocution Competition was organized as part of the event. Students actively participated and confidently shared their ideas and opinions on environmental conservation. Their speeches reflected awareness, creativity, and a strong commitment to protecting the environment. 

The NSS volunteers of RRU played a significant role in organizing and coordinating the programme. Their dedication, teamwork, and hard work ensured the smooth conduct of every activity. The programme concluded successfully with a vote of thanks Mr. S. Dhinesh, IT Officer-EIACP, and active participation from students, faculty members, and NSS volunteers. It was a memorable event that encouraged environmental responsibility and increased awareness about the importance of conserving biodiversity and protecting mangrove ecosystems.
