The Post-Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics (PGDCSDF) Batch 2024–25 from RRU Puducherry Campus recently undertook a week-long academic visit to Rashtriya Raksha University’s main campus in Gujarat, along with students from the RRU Lucknow Campus.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore advanced laboratories aligned with their curriculum subjects, including Network Security and Log Analysis, Web Application and Penetration Testing, Advanced Digital Forensics, Reverse Engineering, and Malware Analysis. In addition to in-depth theoretical sessions, students engaged in hands-on practicals using various digital forensic tools. They also participated in IoT-based exercises using Arduino microcontrollers and learned to simulate IoT applications online using Wokwi. The Web Application and Penetration Testing module covered web application workflows, penetration testing concepts, cookies, and code injection techniques. The students also experienced Augmented and Virtual Reality demonstrations and explored different types of drones developed for diverse applications.
A special session on Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) provided an overview of its types and its significance in national security. The cohort visited SASTRA, an innovation-driven organization, where they were introduced to the company’s mission of nurturing student ideas and guiding them toward successful implementation. Sessions included insights into project management, technological integration, and commercialization strategies. As part of the Database Security module, students learned about various database types and models, data risk assessment, SQL injection (SQLi) vulnerabilities, and tools for mitigating such attacks. Beyond academics, the visit fostered strong connections with fellow students and faculty. The group also had the unique opportunity to attend a Japanese Cultural Carnival hosted on campus, where they enjoyed wearing traditional Japanese attire, interacting with volunteers, and participating in cultural and recreational activities. Overall, the visit to Gujarat was an enriching and memorable experience, combining academic learning, hands-on exposure, cultural exchange, and collaborative bonding.
