On 20th September 2025, students of Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus enthusiastically participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Day by joining a cleanup drive at Veerampattinam Beach. The event, which began at 7:00 A.M., brought together students, faculty, and volunteers with all taking a pledge to protect the environment, preserve marine ecosystems, and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
Armed with gloves, bags, and an inspiring sense of responsibility, the students collected plastic waste, bottles, wrappers, and other debris scattered along the coastline. The activity not only contributed to restoring the natural beauty of the beach but also served as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to reduce marine pollution and safeguard coastal ecosystems.
The initiative provided students with an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and actively contribute to environmental conservation. Many reflected that the drive helped them understand the direct impact of human activity on marine life and the importance of adopting eco-friendly habits in everyday life.
