Inaugration of National Service Scheme - NSS at RRU Puducherry Campus

 A new milestone was marked at Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, with the Inauguration of the National Service Scheme (NSS) on 31st October 2025. The event aimed to instill the spirit of community service, social responsibility, and nation-building among the students of RRU.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Guest, Dr. S. Saravanan, NSS Coordinator – Colleges Puducherry and the Special Guest, Dr. D. Sathish Kumar, State NSS Officer, Puducherry. The Parade of RRU Puducherry students set a patriotic tone for the event, showcasing discipline and unity. Shortly after, the NSS Room was inaugurated, marking the official beginning of the NSS chapter at the campus.

The formal proceedings commenced with the lightening of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and service, followed by a felicitation ceremony to honor the distinguished guests. Mr. Arsh G, Campus Director (I/c), Rashtriya Raksha University Puducherry Campus, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the guests and highlighted the importance of student participation in community development initiatives.

The most awaited moment of the event was the official launching of the NSS Unit, signifying the university’s commitment to fostering civic engagement and social awareness among its students.

 Following the launch, Dr. D. Sathish Kumar, State NSS Officer, Puducherry,addressed the gathering and elaborated on the mission and objectives of NSS, highlighting how the scheme plays a crucial role in cultivating social responsibility, leadership qualities, and community engagement among youth. He emphasized the wide spectrum of NSS activities  from rural development and health awareness to environmental initiatives and social outreach programmes which is all designed to shape students into proactive contributors to nation-building.

After his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. S. Saravanan,  NSS Coordinator -Colleges Puducherry,delivered the impactful speech, underscoring the transformative impact of NSS in moulding responsible and service-oriented citizens. He encouraged students to embrace the spirit of volunteerism, teamwork, and empathy, reinforcing that NSS is not just an activity-based platform, but a lifelong value system rooted in selfless service.

After the Session, a short interactive activity were conducted to keep the students engaged, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. Participants were appreciated for their enthusiasm, and small rewards were presented to the students as encouragement.

The event continued with an engaging student's interactive session, after which all participants took part in the Unity Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to unity, integrity, and national harmony. 

The inauguration of the NSS Unit at RRU Puducherry Campus marks the beginning of a new journey toward social commitment and youth empowerment. By integrating academic excellence with community service, the university envisions nurturing responsible citizens who lead with empathy and integrity. The enthusiasm shown by the students throughout the ceremony reflected their readiness to uphold the NSS motto “Not Me, But You,” embodying the true essence of service, unity, and nation-building.
