Special Lecture by Col. Washim Ahmed: An Insightful session on Military Leadership and Service

Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, successfully hosted a Special lecture by Col. Washim Ahmed, an esteemed officer of the Indian Army, offering students valuable insights into the recruitment and selection process of the armed forces.


Col. Washim Ahmed, who was commissioned into the Indian Army in 2005, is an alumnus of the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, and holds a Master’s degree in Weapon Technology. With extensive operational experience across counter-insurgency areas, mountainous regions, deserts, and high-altitude terrains, and having commanded a Rocket Regiment, he brought rich practical perspectives to the session. Currently serving as the Director of the Recruiting Office (Headquarters) in Chennai, he oversees recruitment efforts in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

                                                                        

      

During the lecture, Col. Ahmed elaborated on the Indian Army recruitment structure, eligibility criteria, selection stages, physical and medical standards, and the importance of discipline, leadership, and mental resilience. He also addressed common misconceptions about the recruitment process and guided students on preparation strategies, career pathways, and long-term growth within the Army.

The interactive session enabled students to gain clarity on joining the armed forces, understand the expectations of military service, and appreciate the values of integrity, dedication, and national duty. His practical guidance and real-life experiences made the lecture both informative and inspiring.

The session proved to be highly enriching and aligned with RRU’s commitment to exposing students to defence professionals, thereby strengthening their understanding of careers in national security, policing, and defence services.
