Kargil Vijay Diwas – Floral Tribute to the Bravehearts of Operation Vijay at Puducherry

On the occasion of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Puducherry Campus, solemnly participated in the State-level commemoration held at the Kargil War Memorial, Beach Road, Puducherry, on 26 July 2026. The programme was organized to honour the unparalleled courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the soldiers who laid down their lives during Operation Vijay (1999) and to reinforce the spirit of national service among future security professionals. The observance reflected the nationwide commemoration of Kargil Vijay Diwas, which honours India's victory in the 1999 Kargil War and the sacrifices of its Armed Forces.

The ceremony was attended by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Puducherry, along with senior government officials, defence personnel, ex-servicemen, police officers, NCC representatives, and members of the public, who offered floral tributes and wreaths at the Kargil War Memorial. The official Raj Nivas programme also included a wreath-laying ceremony by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor at the memorial.

Representing Rashtriya Raksha University Puducherry Campus, Mr. Arsh G., Campus Director, Mr. Nethaji Subash, Assistant Campus Director, and Mr. Aswanth Murugan, Teaching-cum-Research Officer (TCRO) – Corporate Security, joined the solemn tribute and paid their respects to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation.

Objective of the Event:
  • To pay homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War.
  • To instill patriotism, national pride, and respect for the Armed Forces among students and faculty members.
  • To educate students on the significance of Operation Vijay and inspire future security professionals to uphold the values of courage, integrity, and service to the nation.
                                           
The ceremony commenced with the laying of floral wreaths, followed by a moment of silence in honour of the fallen heroes. The gathering reflected upon the extraordinary courage, determination, and selfless service displayed by the Armed Forces during the Kargil conflict. The event served as a reminder of the nation's enduring gratitude towards its defenders and reinforced the values of patriotism, discipline, courage, and commitment to national security.

Participation in this significant national event provided the students and faculty of Rashtriya Raksha University with an opportunity to witness a state-level military commemoration and deepen their understanding of India's defence heritage. The programme inspired the participants to emulate the ideals of sacrifice, leadership, integrity, and service, which are fundamental to careers in criminology, policing, internal security, and national defence.
