The Ocean Sailing Expedition (OSE) 2026 was successfully conducted from 18 July to 27 July 2026 at Cuddalore and Puducherry Harbour under the aegis of the 5(TN) Naval Unit NCC. Organised as a national-level adventure training programme, the expedition aimed to enhance leadership, teamwork, discipline, endurance, confidence, and practical sailing skills among NCC cadets.
The programme commenced with registration, orientation, and selection trials conducted from 19 to 21 July 2026. Following the selection process, four B.A. Criminology and Police Science (Second Year) cadets from RRU Puducherry Campus, Mr. Ravichandiran S., Ms. Dharshini S., Ms. Mouriya S., and Ms. Swedha V. were selected to participate in the sailing expedition, while Ms. Rajeswari R. was selected to perform the prestigious Guard of Honour during the inaugural ceremony. The team was coordinated by Ms. Nidhya P., Sports Training Officer cum CTO 1(P) Naval Unit NCC.
The training schedule included intensive morning and evening sessions on sailing techniques, boat handling, and boat-pulling exercises. These practical sessions strengthened the cadets' physical endurance, coordination, communication, and decision-making abilities while providing valuable exposure to maritime navigation and emergency preparedness. Before the expedition, the Group Commander interacted with the cadets, motivating them and emphasising the values of discipline, teamwork, and dedication.
The expedition was ceremonially flagged off from Puducherry Harbour on 27 July 2026 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Puducherry, Mr. N. Rangasamy. The Guard of Honour presented by Cadet Rajeswari R. added dignity to the occasion. The sailing teams successfully completed the voyage from Puducherry to Cuddalore, demonstrating remarkable teamwork, resilience, discipline, and seamanship throughout the expedition. The Ocean Sailing Expedition 2026 served as a valuable platform for experiential learning by combining adventure with leadership development. The programme reinforced the core values of the NCC while fostering confidence, maritime awareness, and a spirit of service among the participating cadets, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.
