Puducherry Road Safety Rally: "Safe Roads, Save Lives - Striving for Zero Fatalities" A Mission Karmayogi – RRU Puducherry Initiative

In alignment with Mission Karmayogi, a government initiative aimed at building capacity and enhancing public service efficiency, the Puducherry Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) Puducherry campus, organized the Puducherry Road Safety Rally. The event centered around the mission "Safe Roads, Save Lives: Striving for Zero Fatalities," underscores the commitment of both institutions to reducing traffic accidents and fatalities through public engagement, awareness, and responsible driving practices.

The rally, held at Gandhi Thidal, was led by Shri Praveen Tripathi, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), with the support of students and faculty from RRU Puducherry and NCC units. In line with Mission Karmayogi’s citizen-centric approach, this initiative highlights the importance of government bodies working in partnership with educational institutions to foster a safer and more responsible society. Inspector General of Police, Dr. Ajit Kumar Singla, IPS, also participated in the event, administering the road safety pledge and emphasizing the critical goal of achieving zero fatalities on Puducherry’s roads.

This initiative, embodying Mission Karmayogi's emphasis on continuous learning and collaboration, engaged the local community in raising awareness about road safety. Participants distributed pamphlets containing vital safety information on helmet and seatbelt use, the dangers of speeding, crosswalk safety, and adherence to traffic signals. The rally encouraged the public to adopt safe practices, reinforcing that every citizen plays a role in saving lives on the road.

The event also featured an inspiring performance by the Puducherry Police Band Unit, capturing public attention with a captivating musical showcase. Police recruits and officers further advanced the message with engaging performances, including a dynamic flash mob and a mime act that creatively conveyed key road safety principles to a large audience.

This Mission Karmayogi initiative reflects the Puducherry Police’s commitment to a citizen-centric model of public service. Through partnerships with institutions like Rashtriya Raksha University and the active involvement of the community, the police are fostering a culture of safety, civic responsibility, and public awareness. It highlights the power of education and collaboration in achieving long-term societal change.
