NSS Students Participate in NOHP Walkathon for Dental and Oral Health Awareness

On 19 March 2026, as part of its commitment to public health awareness and community engagement, the NSS unit of Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, actively participated in a walkathon on dental and oral health awareness organized under the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP). The programme aimed to educate the public about the importance of maintaining oral hygiene and preventing dental diseases.

The primary objective of the walkathon was to educate the public on:

• The importance of maintaining proper dental hygiene
• Prevention of oral and dental diseases
• The need for regular dental check-ups
• Adopting healthy oral care practices in daily life

The programme was effectively coordinated and led by Dr. O. Kavipriya, Dental Doctor and NOHP Nodal Officer, Puducherry. Through her guidance and leadership, the walkathon was conducted smoothly and successfully. She also interacted with the participants and emphasized the importance of preventive dental care, especially among children, youth, and the general public. The slogans and messages shared by the participants encouraged the public to take oral health seriously and highlighted how simple preventive measures can help avoid major dental problems.

As a mark of appreciation for the active involvement of the NSS Unit, the NOHP department honoured the NSS Programme Officer and NSS Coordinator of Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus with a memento. The recognition highlighted the university’s valuable contribution towards public health awareness and community service initiatives.

The walkathon had a positive impact on both the public and the student volunteers. It helped in:
