Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Puducherry Campus NSS Unit participated in a Traffic Regulation Duty organised in coordination with the Puducherry Traffic Police from 27 September to 4 October 2026. The initiative aimed to support traffic management and promote road safety, particularly during weekends when vehicular movement and the number of visitors to Puducherry increased. Mr. B. Diwakar, TCRO cum NSS Programme Officer, coordinated the programme. A total of 42 NSS volunteers participated in the activity.
As part of the programme, NSS volunteers actively assisted traffic personnel in regulating vehicular movement and maintaining smooth traffic flow at busy locations across White Town, Puducherry. The volunteers helped guide motorists, pedestrians, and other road users while supporting the police in preventing unnecessary congestion and ensuring orderly movement on the roads.
The activity provided the volunteers with practical exposure to traffic management and an opportunity to understand the challenges faced by traffic personnel in their daily duties. They observed issues such as heavy vehicle movement, congestion at busy points and the importance of effective coordination between traffic police and the public. The initiative also encouraged students to develop discipline, teamwork, civic responsibility and a sense of public service. Through their participation, the volunteers contributed to the community while gaining a better understanding of the importance of traffic regulation and responsible road use.
The Traffic Regulation Duty reflected Rashtriya Raksha University's commitment to community engagement and experiential learning. Such initiatives provide students with opportunities to contribute to public welfare while developing a strong sense of social responsibility and civic awareness. Through this collaborative effort with the Puducherry Traffic Police, RRU Puducherry Campus reaffirmed the importance of student participation in community service and the collective responsibility of maintaining safe and orderly roads.
