NCC Firing Practice – 1(P) Naval Unit, Puducherry

The NCC Naval cadets of RRU Puducherry Campus actively participated in a structured Firing Practice training programme conducted on 10th, 11th, and 30th December 2025 at 1 (P) Naval Unit NCC, Lawspet, Puducherry, with a total of 17 cadets taking part in the exercise. 

The training provided the cadets with valuable hands-on experience using the .22 rifle, enabling them to understand the fundamentals of marksmanship in a controlled and disciplined environment. Prior to the live practice, cadets received detailed briefings on weapon safety protocols, proper firearm handlingcorrect firing posture, breathing control, aiming techniques, and standard firing procedures. Under the supervision of trained NCC instructors, the cadets practiced firing drills that emphasized accuracy, focus, and adherence to safety norms. 


The firing practice training programme proved to be a highly beneficial and enriching experience for the NCC Naval cadets of RRU Puducherry Campus. By combining theoretical instruction with practical application, the programme strengthened the cadets’ understanding of firearm safety, discipline, and marksmanship. The hands-on exposure not only enhanced their shooting skills but also fostered confidence, concentration, and a sense of responsibility.

The training played a vital role in the cadets’ overall NCC development, contributing to their physical preparedness, mental resilience, and commitment to the core values of the NCC. The programme significantly enhanced the cadets’ confidence, self-discipline, and shooting proficiency, while also instilling a sense of responsibility and teamwork. Overall, the firing practice made a meaningful contribution to the cadets’ holistic NCC training, strengthening their physical skills, mental alertness, and readiness for future NCC activities and leadership roles.
