NSS Volunteers participated in International Coastal Cleanup Drive

The NSS Unit of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Puducherry Campus, actively participated in the International Coastal Cleanup initiative, organised by the Indian Coast Guard at Rock Beach, Puducherry, on 19 September 2026, to promote coastal cleanliness and create awareness about marine pollution. The volunteers joined hands with the Indian Coast Guard and other participating organisations to clean the designated coastal area, demonstrating their commitment to environmental protection and community service.

During the drive, the volunteers collected and segregated various types of waste, including discarded alcohol bottles, plastic bottles, food packaging, wrappers and other litter. The activity highlighted the importance of responsible waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. It also helped the participants understand the harmful effects of marine pollution on coastal ecosystems and marine life.

Through this initiative, the NSS volunteers gained valuable practical experience in environmental conservation and community engagement. Their participation also strengthened their sense of social responsibility and encouraged them to contribute actively towards a cleaner and healthier environment. The beach cleaning drive was a meaningful initiative that supported coastal conservation and promoted awareness about the importance of protecting beaches and marine ecosystems. RRU Puducherry Campus takes pride in the active participation of its NSS volunteers in this environmental initiative, reflecting their commitment to cleanliness, sustainability and social responsibility.
