Students from the Postgraduate Diploma in Security Corporate and Intelligence Managemnet (SCIM), Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, visited the Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) of IQVIA in Bengaluru on 16 December 2025. The visit provided valuable exposure to real-time security operations within a global healthcare analytics and contract research organization. IQVIA operates in the domain of security, surveillance, and integrated operations, managing critical functions with a highly efficient team of just ten members.
During the visit, students learned how IQVIA has successfully reduced operational costs by nearly 83%, bringing expenses down from approximately 3 million dollars to 0.5 million dollars, while continuing to comply with international standards such as HIPAA and GDPR. The facility uses advanced technologies such as Casi-Rusco access control systems, Genetec software, and biometric palm readers, which together enhance security while minimizing manpower requirements. Critical infrastructure areas such as pump rooms and electrical rooms are given high priority to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
The team explained the operational workflow followed at the GSOC, which includes detection, verification, escalation, and response. Alerts are generated through video analytics and sensor-based systems, after which operators verify incidents through live feeds. If required, physical verification is conducted and standard operating procedures are activated to manage the situation effectively.
Students also gained insight into the technical infrastructure supporting the operations. The centre uses a combination of fixed and PTZ cameras connected to a centralized video wall for real-time monitoring. Data is managed through NVR and DVR systems with retention policies based on legal and operational requirements. Access control is managed through biometric and RFID systems, while uninterrupted operations are ensured through dual power supplies, including UPS and generators, along with redundant network connections.
Overall, the session offered insights into structured incident response, critical infrastructure protection, and intelligence-led security operations. The visit was highly informative and enhanced student's understanding of modern security management and operational resilience.
