Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus, proudly congratulates NCC Cadet Ms. Ranjana Sri S., a first-year student of B.A./B.Sc. Criminology and Police Science, for successfully completing the State-Level NCC Drone Training Camp conducted at Government Engineering College, Salem, Tamil Nadu, from 22 July to 31 July 2026. The camp commenced with an orientation programme introducing the objectives of the training and the growing significance of drone technology in defence, disaster management, surveillance, agriculture, and other civilian applications. A total of 54 NCC cadets participated in the programme under the guidance of experienced NCC officials, technical instructors, and drone experts, including Ms. Divya Bharathi (GCI). The NCC cadets were coordinated by Ms. Sandra Sunil, TCRO at RRU.
The training covered Drone Fundamentals, including the classification, components, and operational principles of drones, followed by Flight Science, where cadets learned the basics of aerodynamics, flight controls, and simulator-based flying techniques. Practical sessions on drone assembly and configuration enabled cadets to identify individual components, assemble drones, and understand their functioning. Additional sessions focused on navigation, flight planning, communication systems, safety protocols, and pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures, ensuring participants developed a thorough understanding of safe and responsible drone operations. Team-based activities during the assembly exercises fostered collaboration, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills among the cadets.
The camp significantly enhanced the cadet's technical knowledge, confidence, analytical thinking, and practical skills in handling drones while reinforcing the core NCC values of discipline, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism. The exposure to emerging drone technologies also equipped the cadets with valuable skills relevant to modern security, surveillance, and disaster response operations.
The programme concluded with a practical assessment and final assignment to evaluate the participants' understanding of drone technology and operational procedures. The successful completion of the Drone Training Camp has significantly enhanced Cadet Ranjanasree's technical competence, confidence, and practical knowledge in handling drone systems. RRU Puducherry Campus congratulates Cadet Ranjanasree S. on this commendable achievement and wishes her continued success in her future academic, technical, and NCC endeavours.
